Police are seeking witnesses after a snowball thrown from a motorway bridge shattered a lorry's windscreen.

The Royal Mail vehicle was hit at about 22:00 on Friday while travelling south on the A74(M) near Kirkpatrick Fleming.

The windscreen was shattered but the driver managed to keep control of the lorry.

Police said reports had been received of youths standing on the flyover at the time but they had made off before officers arrived on the scene.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
