A shorter Saturday? I bloody hope so. I know lads who couldn't get home in time for the Everton v Man U game a few weeks ago because it was a 12 o'clock kick-off. I have searched all the LTBs and to my knowledge there is no reference to any agreement regarding changed finishing times. So unless you can point me in the way of an actual agreement i can only assume you are wrong.
I can only see advice on attendence when RM bring them in by Executive action see the LTB below:

For the record here is an accurate account of this.
Management contacted CWU area rep and informed him that they were prepared to pull the plug on executive action regarding longs and shorts and start times if he was prepared to try and reach an agreement covering all CW offices and two WA ( Altrincham and Widnes) all other WA offices start at 6am or later now anyway.
The executive action especially on longs and shorts will be a complete nightmare and would cause untold problems.The area rep contacted all local reps to speak to members to gauge their opinions and all asked him to try and get a deal but with earlier finish times on a Saturday and no later than 2pm in the week.
Management accepted union proposals that delivered the above and also incuded clauses in an agreement that covered off national talks(The right to renegotiate area deal if a national agreement was reached on start times) and the early shift allowance is also covered off in deal with the national outcome applied to area deal.
All reps were very happy that any changes to times were on CWU terms and the deal got rid of the longs and shorts Royal Mail were proposing and gave a 12.40 finish on a Saturday.
The draft agreement was sent to division (Ian Taylor and Dave Roebuck) who forwarded it on to headquarters.
Both div reps thought it was a good agreement but wanted hq approval because it secured attendance times and patterns that were CWU driven and had clauses built in that protected the national talks and also at a time when we have an employer who has virtually derecognised the union, in this area they were prepared to reach an agreement with the CWU and we should be taking full advantage of that rather than having executive action forced on us on the 10th October.
Bob Gibson has not signed any deal nor has he had any involvement in it. At present the deal is not signed it is still awaiting clearance from headquarters but Ian Taylor and Paul ( area rep) both feel we should be taking this deal and using it to our advantage in the national talks because part of the unions counter proposals is for offices to reach agreements on start times based on availability of mail.(see letter to members houses last Thursday) In the CW/WA area it appears that finally management have used common sense and the CWU has achieved one of its national counter proposals with built in safeguards and they should be applauded for that as i know an awful lot of work went in to persuade management to withdraw the executive action.
Ian and Paul are going to be having a word with Bob at the briefing in London tomorrow and hopefully the deal will be signed.
In finishing i hope that this clarifies the situation and also re-emphasise that this gets rid of long and shorts not agreeing to them.
