FULL UPDATE ON WAY FOR ALL MEMBERS/RECEIVED.
Letter to Branches
No 900/07 Ref 60000 Date:26th September 2007
To: Branches with POSTAL Members
Dear Colleagues
BRIEFING PACK TO CWU MEMBERS’ HOME ADDRESSES
This is to let you know that the Union has mailed a briefing pack out to all our Royal Mail members. This should arrive today and tomorrow.
The briefing pack contains information on the following:
- The attacks that Royal Mail are making on CWU members and why we had no alternative other than to escalate strike action.
- The Union’s position on pensions.
- The reasons why ColleagueShare is not the answer and why it can never be a substitute for higher basic pay and decent pensions.
- We highlight the fundamental errors that the people running the company have made and now demand CWU members pay for.
- We set out the Union’s solution to the dispute.
- We have also included a full copy of Royal Mail’s final offer which was unanimously rejected by the Postal Executive.
It is essential that all CWU representatives build on this communication and engage members in the work place about all the issues.
Given the seriousness of the situation please encourage every member to read all the detail contained in Royal Mail’s offer.
A further letter will be sent to members’ home addresses next week (prior to strike action taking place). This will also include a more detailed document covering Royal Mail’s pension proposals.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

TNT Netherlands
TNT in Holland has only six mail centres and is made up almost entirely of part time staff, and TNT still say they are overpaid.
Funny as this may seem but :lfo and :cfo are basing their future model of Royal Mail on TNT Netherlands.

Re: TNT Netherlands
It has only 16.5 million people and for anyone who has ever been there it's as flat as a pancake, has no islands or highlands and few mountaineers.Wild Cat wrote:TNT in Holland has only six mail centres and is made up almost entirely of part time staff, and TNT still say they are overpaid.

Like for like? I don't think so.
During the early sixties I spent quite a lot of time in Holland and they are a great people - much like us in outlook. I think that they would be devastated to think we were being made a scapegoat for TNT.

You'll NEVER do enough for this boss
I think that Al will try and take it to the line again....BUT whatever RM says.....WE WILL WIN......this 2 + 2 day strike WILL HIT THEM HARD....and if they won't deal with the CWU, then LET'S TAKE THEM DOWN WITH US.....AL & AC should NOT be able TO GET AWAY WITH THIS SMELLING OF ROSES.....if they want to deal then fine....do a deal thats acceptable to both of us......
BUT we have ALL bent over backwards to save over the last 2 years....SO ENOUGH IS ENOUGH......
Every time we reach a target, a HIGHER one is set.....
They will NEVER be satisfied with how much work we do
STOP IT NOW....or forever pay the price of caving in
Make no mistake , its costing us all a small fortune.....BUT we stand to lose a LARGE FORTUNE if RM's current ideas are not opposed
LEIGHTON & CROZIER WILL GO IN A SHORT TIME.....But you and I have 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 years still to do...
Thats a long time to be swimming in SH*T
