Bristol postal workers voted for strike

Postal workers at the Royal Mail delivery depot in Mead Street have voted by over 80% to take strike action. The ballot result was 51 "Yes" votes with 12 against industrial action

Strike action must be held within a four week period so will hit the Christmas mail, if a joint resolution between Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union is not reached.

This result shows that our members have overwhelmingly rejected the heavy handed approach of Royal Mail at this depot. The company now needs to appreciate how serious the situation is and stop burying their heads in the sand".

Unless you were there, you couldn't make that opinion with any accuracy, my comments was made in speculation.
Both positions are as speculative as each other surely :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm

Yes I agree. Unless somebody from Bristol can confirm what is going on, I suspect there is a degree of bullying and harassment going on, nobody takes a strike action outside of a National Strike unless there is a good reason to do so.

I think it's more important why the 51 voted to strike than why the 12 didn't.
Just an opinion. :neutral:

The off topic posts are in http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... =5&t=48823" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This has been done because this Bristol Strike vote is important and both of you are distracting any discussion from it.

Ok no problem, TBT I am happy to fight it out with him in that thread.

On Topic:

Hopefully the full story of what is happening in Bristol will come out and we can all make our judgements on it.

Explaining the background to the dispute, local branch secretary explained that the problems had arisen following the implementation of a delivery revision last year.

"The revision hasn't worked from Day One, but management have stubbornly refused to carry out a proper review," he explained, adding that, according to the current national agreement, a post-implementation review has to be carried out as Phase Six of the revision process.

"People have got rounds they just can't complete within their time and we're getting daily complaints from members alleging bullying and harassment," Dave pointed out.
Obviously that's only the "full story" according branch sec but i doubt he would have put it out there if it wasn't at least based on the truth. :neutral:

Its a good enough reason to go out, I am sure there are grievances regarding certain managers cracking the whip a little too hard and was the push needed to vote for a strike, I have come across these cases before, hope Bristol will come back in with enough concessions in their favour and not sold out.

It seems to be a common theme, management more or less impose a revision,it falls on it's arse because there has been very little local input from the staff and then management blame the staff for the failure because the only alternative is face their own failings...and that isn't going to happen.
