Postal worker representatives are to meet with Royal Mail over a workload dispute at a Bristol sorting office.

Thousands of items of mail were left undelivered and union bosses said it was "chaos" at the Mead Street office where workers were "struggling".

Royal Mail apologised for any delays earlier in the month and blamed a high level of sickness at the office.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) says it is to meet with Royal Mail on Friday to discuss the issues.

'Acceptable'

A spokesman for CWU Bristol said: "This is a positive step although there is some distance between the two sides at present.

"From our perspective it is not merely a case of concluding any agreement, but an agreement that is acceptable to our members at this unit".

Ballot papers have been sent out to postal workers who have until 21 November to decide whether to take strike action.

About 100 people work in the office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

royal fail will always advocate meetings to slow any outrage down. but there again so do the cwu, the only loosers are the workforce in this shambolic transformation
to hell .l i dont see any cwu hq leaders going off with stress or royalfail heads dreading their future. all i see is the wholesale slaughter of a once proud workforce
i ask all members on the shop floor wether it be in deliveries or processing to look for the truth, we have been kept in the dark so long challenge your rep where do we sit
in a grand programe of future will you support us ,are you as local and regional officials willing to once more support the membership because you have not in the past we
as a workforce are the cwu, remember that.
