A TEENAGE yob who chased a postman through a town centre with a meat cleaver has been give 18 monthsâ€™ detention.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard that Mark Anderson, 17, was high on a cocktail of valium and alcohol when he terrorised postie Kevin Ashcroft as he delivered mail on his morning round.

Mr Ashcroft was â€œhorrifiedâ€

I was up for an assault charges years ago and he got me off with it as i was defending myself from the attacker

He dropped his postbag in fear and fled through Johnstone town centre as Anderson, of West Campbell Street, Paisley, chased after him.

Dont wanna sound cynical here, but with todays industrial relations as they are, i wouldnt be surprised if this postman isnt done by an over zealous screw or dum for willful delay and dereliction of duty!!!

Well there is a difference here if an attacker demands the mailbag off you just give it to them,cause your life is more important than the sack of mail that's what RM has always told me so this postman won't be done over by over zealous DIM or DUM as it totally different if the bag was left at bottom of a close for example hope that clarifies this.

But if the postie had time off for stress/trauma he will still get a Stage interview if he hits a trigger point.
