Beware, Direct Mail has grown as other mail products have declined.

Interesting, but what, you couldn't register and give us the sp :so there
Seems some sectors have gone up and obviously some have gone down.

RM Group website.

Building societies’ use of direct mail has increased by 18.8 per cent, new figures revealed today.

A total of 15.92 million mailings were sent by building societies in the last quarter of 2006, up from 13.4 million in the same period in 2005, revealed Royal Mail.

The charity sector’s use of direct mail has increased by 9.1 per cent, new figures revealed today.

Charities in the UK sent a total 132.27 million mailings in the last quarter of 2006 up from 121.22 million in the same period in 2005, reported Royal Mail.

The government sector’s use of direct mail has increased by six per cent, new figures revealed today.

Government organisations sent a total 17.47 million mailings in the last quarter of 2006, up from 16.48 million in the same period in 2005, reported Royal Mail.

This is a result of companies across all sectors improving their targeting to create even more relevant and personal offers for their customers and prospects.

I would of thought with lower prices given by our competitors it could go back up again, and if the shackles are taken off of us we could help that as well.
There's nothing like a good mail shot to drum business up,especially when they've tried their tried and tested customers.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You are right and some sectors have gone up whereas others gone down.

It is the big question. Will competition actually increase volumes especially in the business sector because prices have come down. Its a bit like house prices, there are those who say it will go up, and others who say it will go down.

Overall mail volumes generally keep track with the state of the economy.

Unsurprisingly public sectors have risen as the government has pumped more money into these areas.

As posties I wouldn't worry about this too much, it's ur mates upstream on the outward side who are at most risk from direct mail contracts going to the competition. Your main threat will come from further automation.

In summary there is no definitive direction in my opinion, just educated guesses and actually the analogy of George Soros saying it will be a bad day, then it will be a bad day. I reckon if enough people think it will increase it will.
