MP to meet with Royal Mail chiefs this week
Canterbury MP Julian Brazier says he is to meet with Royal Mail chiefs this week after problems with post collections at Whitstable emerged.
With a new sorting office due to open early next year in Maidstone, it has meant the closure of a number of local branches - including that of the sorting office in Whitstable.
Royal Mail assured customers in the town that an alternate plan would be put in place to collect parcels from the local post office if postmen were unable to deliver them.
But Mr Brazier says Royal Mail now sees there is a “problem” with their promise.
Mr Brazier said: “At my earlier meeting with Royal Mail, I stressed how important this matter was, and they assured me that they were close to completing an arrangement, which would meet the bill.
“Subsequently, they sent out a press release confirming in writing that a firm arrangement for a pick-up point had been made.
“I will tell them next week that it is completely unacceptable for them to back off on this. I want to know what the problem is and what alternative they are arranging.”
With the closure of the Whitstable sorting office it means residents may have to travel to Canterbury to collect post which could not be delivered.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They are DOs the press use the term Sorting Offices interchangeably because they can't be bothered to check the facts.Bahia Feliz wrote:Are these delivery offices or mail centres? I'm confused

Since when have the press allowed facts to get in the way of a story - good or bad!
