A Barnstaple postman is planning to cycle from London to Paris to raise money for the charity Action Medical Research.

Forty-four-year-old mail man Clint Rance, who lives in Pilton, will be setting off on his epic 250-mile journey on July 17 2013. He is hoping to raise £2,000 for Action Medical Research which is dedicated to improving the health of babies and children in the UK. He has already raised £250.

Clint chose to raise money for the charity because of a family tragedy.

Clint says, "Some years ago, my brother had a baby who died aged just six weeks. I really wanted to do something for the charity that helped them.

"The charity has been behind numerous breakthroughs such as the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and more recently the fetal heart rate monitors, a new state-of-the-art device that could help save thousands of at-risk babies."
