STAFF at Royal Mail’s delivery office in Kirkby have gone back to work after strike action.
Royal Mail spokesman Tony Baxter confirmed that the office’s 47 employees yesterday returned to work after five days of unballoted industrial action.
Mr Baxter said: “We are pleased that staff in Kirkby have returned to work and resumed service to our customers.
“The action of staff in Kirkby in walking out without warning and then continuing to take un-balloted industrial action has had an impact on our service to customers.
“We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused and assure them that we are doing all we can to restore services to normal as quickly as possible.
“Deliveries and collections are being made in all areas and the enquiry office at Kirkby was open as normal for customers to collect items we have tried to deliver.”
Residents in the L32 and L33 areas were affected by the action.
Mr Baxter added: “This action related to a case involving one individual in the office. Whilst Royal Mail cannot discuss the detail of individual personnel cases we have robust procedures agreed with the Communication Workers Union to deal with such matters.”
