Document proves Royal Mail bosses are out to break the CWU
Royal Mail has put its cards on the table. For a small compromise on pay â€“ a 6.7 percent rise over two years â€“ it wants to rip up every national and local agreement between the company and the CWU postal workersâ€™ union.

This would leave a workforce that is compliant and flexible, and a union that is impotent and weak.

The bossesâ€™ vision for the company, spelt out in a 13-page document that it presented in negotiations with the CWU this month, also involves major attacks on the pension scheme.

A key part of the document that Royal Mail wanted the union to sign up to includes the demand for flexible working, which would immediately include:

Flexible attendances, where being instructed to start work two hours early, or stay two hours late â€“ without notice and without overtime â€“ is the norm.
All delivery rounds to be finished, even when incoming mail has been delayed, irrespective of how many hours have been worked.
Accepting that permanent changes to shift patterns can, with seven days notice, be imposed without negotiation.
Functional flexibility â€“ all workers are expected to cover any duty in their unit at the discretion of management.

But, as the document makes clear, these changes are just the start. The ultimate aim is â€œtotal flexibilityâ€

im afraid im lost for words, if after 5 weeks of talks and this is what rm have presented to our leadership, and billy and dave still have the stupidity to keep talking to these people we are in a big mess. And then we are told the union leadership are to present the two assholes with our proposals and dont tell me thy expect :cfo :lfo to say ok then lets give it a go FCUK OFF . WTF ARE WE DOING STILL EVEN TRYING TO COME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THESE PEOPLE. WE NEED TO TAKE WHATEVER ACTION WE HAVE TO NOW TO GET THESE ARSHOLES TO COME TO THEIR SENSES AND I MEAN BY THAT BOTH :lfo :cfo AND OUR GREAT LEADERS.

If the national press actually get hold of this and read it and report it. Everyone will know what royal mail really want as a workforce, nothing more than robot slaves! I'm sure slavery was abolished years ago though, someone should tell royal mail that. This is the sort of treatment workers get in third world countries, yet we're s'posed to part of the 1st world countries.
