A GUNMAN threatened a mother and her 11-year-old daughter during a dawn robbery at a post office.
The woman, in her 30s, was working at Illingworth Moor Post Office, Illingworth, when the balaclava-wearing robber burst in.
He brandished the handgun and threatened the pair before forcing them to hand over a quantity of cash.
He made his escape in an old-style silver Ford Mondeo car which police think may have been stolen during a house burglary in Boothtown on Friday night.
Police raced to the post office on Illingworth Road, at 6.50am, yesterday.
The robber is described as a a white male, 5ft 7in, medium build, wearing a black waist length jacket which may have been leather, dark coloured jeans and black boots.
The post office was cordoned off while police gathered evidence.
Detective Inspector Mark McManus, from Calderdale CID, said: "At this time we cannot definitely say the car used in this robbery is the same as the one stolen from an address at Bradford Old Road, Boothtown, earlier in the week. However we are investigating and suspect that the two incidents are connected."
Bank books, a carpet cleaner and vases were stolen, along with the car, during the Boothtown burglary.
Anyone with information about the robbery can contact Det Sgt Ross Wadsworth on 01422 337085 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
