Gunman threatens to shoot postman

AN ARMED thief threatened to shoot a postman unless he handed over his van keys.

The postie had been delivering mail at the Paddock at Hamilton Racecourse, South Lanarkshire, at 9.45am yesterday when four men pulled up in a black car.

One man followed the postie into a close, threatened him with a gun, and stole the keys to his van, while the other three waited in the vehicle.

However, the robber dropped the keys before he and his accomplices fled in the car, believed to be a BMW or Saab.

The 39-year-old postman was uninjured but was left extremely shaken by the attempted robbery.

The man who threatened the postie was Asian, in his early 20s, around 5ft 8in, slim and had stubble. He was wearing a tan denim-style jacket, dark T-shirt and blue jeans.

If anyone knows him please pass on our thoughts for his quick recovery, but not too quick or RM will have him back on the same duty without a thought.
