Independent newsagents condemn Royal Mail for limiting stamps

Independent newsagents have condemned the Royal Mail for limiting the supply of stamps ahead of record price increases later this month.

Kieran McDonnell, national president for The National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN), said: “Independent newsagents were outraged when the Royal Mail announced that the price of a first class stamp was to rise from 46p to 60p and second class stamps from 36p to 50p from 30 April and this latest move to limit stamps is nothing short of scandalous.

“We are conscious that many of are customers are cash strapped and are keen to stock up on stamps ahead of the price rise and it is totally unacceptable for the Royal Mail to act in this way.”
