NATIONAL BRIEFING REPORT

Post by lovejoy »

National Briefing Update
Royal Mail Offer – THE TRUTH
Following today’s briefing we are now in possession of the FULL AND FINAL OFFER ON PAY AND THE FUTURE FROM ROYAL MAIL. Your managers will be busy trying to sell you sections of the document whilst conveniently forgetting that the offer as a whole would devastate the terms and conditions of every postal worker in the UK!

You also need to be aware that the document was 100% compiled by Royal Mail with no input from the CWU. Over the next couple of days copies of the document along with our analysis of the offer will be sent to all units.

We will also be sending out a full brief on the talks so far and the actions that have led to the Royal Mail and the union being so far apart.

The CWU remain 100% committed to reaching a negotiated settlement but given the position that the business has taken the announcement of Industrial Action is a strong possibility.

As previously stated we will make sure you get every detail of the offer but the key points are

Slightly increased pay offer (6.7% over 2 years). You all need to be aware that the pay offer is CONDITIONAL on us accepting ALL THE STRINGS ATTACHED TO THE ROYAL MAIL DOCUMENT which include

• Pensions – Work to 65 (after 2010) to get the same benefits we now receive for retiring at 60
• Flexibility – Royal Mail want to be able to change your start / finish times by up to 2 hours with ONLY 7 DAYS NOTICE!
• Flexibility – Annalised hours. If mail is light you work shorter week (i.e 30 hours), when mail is heavier you work longer week (i.e 50 hours)
• Flexibility – Cover leave / sick by absorbing work – no overtime!
• Flexibility - If mail is delayed then Mail Centre / Delivery staff will have to stay on and clear delayed mail then start later the following day
• Monthly Pay – Business want monthly pay and have offered no incentive!
• New Attendance / Conduct Procedure is being proposed
• D2D / Election Material – Absorb this work and no longer receive ANY payment for it.
• End of MTSF agreement – taking away your pay protection for change
We are sure that you will be shocked at the above proposals and we urge you to ask your managers why they are not telling you the full story. As always we will make sure you are kept fully updated with any developments.

So why the feck havn't they announced dates? the longer we go on doing nothing the easier it is for RM to enforce these unwanted changes.

We can see it how come the feckers at the top of the CWU can't?

What is there real agenda? This lack of action does give me serious doubts as to wether they are looking after us or themselves.

These guys are acting like a wounded animal. (more aggressive) personally i think we've got them on the ropes. I smell blood. What we need is a flurry of punches to finish the job. They can't run jack s--t.
