Shoulder-padded postwoman
This year, according to studies, fewer people will send Christmas cards than ever before. As email and text-message greetings replace more time-consuming (and costly) traditional methods, one shoulder-padded heroine has flown to the rescue of Royal Mail with the single aim of beguiling Britons to send a card this Christmas.
"Royal Mail have been trying to convince Joan Collins to front their campaign for months," says my source. "So they are delighted that she has finally agreed to do it. They see her as being just the right mix of glamour and practicality."

Collins, 74, pictured above, who has fronted campaigns for Marks & Spencer and Rover in the past, is understood to have recorded a TV advertising campaign to go out this Christmas, although a spokesman for the star refused to elaborate. "I'm not allowed to say anything until the commercial is shown," he tells me.
