Red letter day for Redditch postie

A VERY special presentation was made recently to a long serving member of the Post Office.

Subpostmaster Richard Pinder is celebrating 30 plus years of working at Greenlands Post Office in Studley Road.

And although Mr Pinder was officially awarded a 30 years long service certificate, he actually started at the busy branch, 10 years earlier in 1972.

Mr Pinder, who received the award on his 63rd birthday last week, said: “I had just finished a business studies college course and I was 22, but my father was ready to retire. I just stepped in and I have never looked back.”

“I enjoy the work and meeting the public.

“I even remember using a calculator and an accounts book, but times have changed and it is all electronic these days.”

Mr Pinder, who has two children and four grandchildren, added that he has no plans to retire.

Post Office manager Caroline Pritchard, said: "We appreciate the dedication, contribution and commitment that Richard has made to the business.


“He is a true ambassador for the business and to be with the Post Office for so long is a fantastic achievement.”
