LLANDDULAS Post Office has shown it is ahead of the curve in diversification.
It was chosen as an example to the rest of the country as the Welsh Government extended a £2m campaign to help improve post offices.
The premises received a facelift with the aid of a government grant.
Sub-post mistress Caroline Deacon has run the business for 12 years.
“The post office had become a bit tired and it was a chance to make it more modern, bright and attractive to customers,” she said. “We have had very positive feedback.”
The three-year project, named the Post Office Diversification Fund (PODF), aims to help post offices across Wales expand and diversify.
The fund was opened around three years ago and, so far, 316 grants totalling over £5.3m have been made to post offices.
Spokesperson for the Post Office Heulyn Gwyn Davies said: “Post Office branches in Wales were the first in the UK to benefit from specific funding earmarked for supporting our network. This latest fund will provide real tangible help for sub-postmasters to expand and diversify their business.”
