The 48-year-old suffered a severe brain haemorrhage on New Year's Eve and was rushed to Morriston Hospital.
A funeral was held for Mr Davies on Tuesday this week and fellow postmen followed behind the hearse with the postie's very own van used on his rounds.
The postmen also lined up in their uniforms to greet the funeral car at Swansea Crematorium.
Mr Davies spent 22 years in the postal service, latterly working in the Llangyfelach area of Swansea.
The postman is survived by his wife Judith, 54, who he met while at a stag party at the Top Rank Club on The Kingsway in Swansea, his daughter Georgina, 21, son Alex, 19, brother Nigel, 50, and his father Dennis, 81.
Mrs Davies said her husband was well known by the people on his rounds and recently got offered a cup of tea after locking his keys in his post van.
She said: "He knew everybody in the village.
"I've had some lovely cards and handwritten notes from people who knew him."
Mrs Davies added: "He was taken ill on the morning of New Year's Eve.
"He woke up that morning complaining of a headache.
"The ambulance crew was marvellous and the A&E team at Morriston Hospital were unbelievably good as well.
"He was transferred to the intensive care unit and there was a nurse called Claire who was marvellous."
The DVLA worker said the death of her husband had been particularly difficult for his father who lost his own wife Margaret in 2009.
Mr Davies and his wife married in Swansea in 1988 and he began working for the postal service shortly afterwards.
Rugby
Mrs Davies said: "He was looking for a job and couldn't find work. He picked up a part-time job working in the Post Office not long after we were married.
"He had worked in Sketty and on the Swansea Enterprise Park.
"He was very out going, he loved his rugby.
"He always used to go and watch Wales before we got married. He didn't miss an international."
Mr Davies often went to the Bird in Hand pub on his way home from work, as well as the Plough and Harrow in Llangyfelach, which was used as a venue for his wake following the funeral.

Shocking really he was my age. An old soldier once said to me live life as though its your last day, as one day it will be, this is a sad and tragic example of how sudden it can be.
Rest in peace Keith, and your colleagues should be rightly proud of the send off they gave you.

And I was worried this time last year before I got my MRI scan results back that I might possibly have an aneurysm (or worse) due to the sudden onset of excrutiating headaches and being told it was Trigeminal Neuralgia which I shouldn't have at my age. Luckily for me, it wasn't. Unfortunately, Keith wasn't so lucky
