A day he’ll remember for the rest of his life.

Dave Skingsley was talking after collecting his MBE for services to Royal Mail and charity at Buckingham Palace this week.

He’d been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list earlier this year. Dave was presented with his gong by Prince Charles.

Dave, a driver at Chester mail centre, (pictured celebrating with colleagues) has worked for us for 27 years and is a CWU rep.

Over the past three years, he has raised thousands of pounds for the local children’s hospice, Claire House.

He entertains shoppers in supermarkets and town centres by dressing up as Elvis and singing for donations.

He also supports CRY – Cardiac Arrest in Young People – and is involved in Blacon Youth, which aims to raise money so teenagers from the local area can go on holiday.

Dave said: ‘I felt very privileged and honoured to receive this award and felt very emotional accepting it.

‘It would not have been possible to achieve this without the support of my family, Royal Mail and colleagues, so I would like to thank them all and dedicate this award to them.

‘My visit was an absolutely fantastic experience and one I will remember for the rest of my life.’
