RADLETT'S delivery office will relocate to Borehamwood early next year, in a move that has left villagers "annoyed".

Royal Mail has confirmed the transfer of the office from Watling Street to Shenley Road, a distance of nearly four miles, in February.

Sarah Dawson, 43, of Loom Lane, said: "I am really annoyed that we will have to go to Borehamwood. How do they expect people to get there if they have no car, and the bus transport system here isn’t exactly reliable?

"I feel sorry for the elderly people who will have to travel miles in English winters to go and collect a parcel."

Nicole Mullet, 37, of Station Road, said: "Going to Borehamwood to collect a parcel really is a long way when you have young kids. It’s definitely going to be an inconvenience."

Royal Mail said the decision to transfer the office was due to "declining mail volumes and increasingly tough trading conditions".
