Kenilsworth - Promises of better mail service this Christmas

THE Royal Mail have given assurances that this year’s Christmas post in Kenilworth will hit its deadlines.

Kenilworth MP Jeremy Wright last week met with representatives of the Royal Mail to ask for these assurances and to register his concern about a number of complaints concerning late or undelivered mail.

Last year many householders complained that Christmas cards and letters failed to be delivered in time, despite being sent before the last posting dates.

Royal Mail blamed the weather and the introduction of new systems.

At the recent meeting Mr Wright was told that teething problems with the new systems had now been resolved.

On top of that, a full quota of temporary staff had been recruited to deal with the seasonal rush and, unless snowstorms prevented delivery just before Christmas, the service would be up to scratch.

Mr Wright said: “I’m hopeful, following this meeting, that they have learned important lessons from their experience last year.”
