Postman could face charges over missing mail

ROYAL Mail chiefs are preparing to press charges against a postman who allegedly hoarded thousands of items of undelivered mail.

More than a month has passed since the stash of letters and parcels was discovered during a police raid on a house in Kirkintilloch.

The postman quickly resigned his position, but until now his former bosses have remained tight-lipped as to whether they would be taking legal action.

The delay has caused anger amongst residents - many of whom have received undelivered mail dating back several years with cash and other items missing.

All the items found have now been delivered to the intended recipients, but there are concerns that many other pieces of mail may never be recovered. Royal Mail has refused to confirm how many items of mail were involved.

However, a spokesperson told the Herald: “Royal Mail security continues to investigate the matter.

“A case will be prepared for the procurator fiscal with regards to the quantity of mail recently recovered in Kirkintilloch.”

Hopefully he WILL be prosecuted. It's people like him, who get us all a bad name. And more importantly, he's betrayed the trust put in him, and also broken the law. Come on IB, get this guy prosecuted ASAP!
