No plans to close post office

ROYAL Mail has denied rumours it would be closing its Stourport delivery office amid concerns from residents.

People in the town are fearful the town’s office will be shut and moved to Kidderminster, leading Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier to write to the postal firm in support of residents.

A spokesman for Royal Mail, however, denied claims it would be closing the office, saying there were “no firm plans”.

Rumours also spread across the town last year that the office would close and a campaign was set up to save it. But Royal Mail again confirmed at the time it would not be closing the depot.

Mr Garnier, who also pledged his support to residents last year, told The Shuttle his position had not changed.

“It’s incredibly important that Stourport has its own delivery office, “ he said. “It’s important to local businesses and local jobs.

“I don’t want Stourport deprived of this. Stourport doesn’t need stuff taken away from it. We’re trying very hard to help all the towns and Stourport needs a lot of help one way or the other.

“There’s a huge strength of feeling behind this and the post office has got to continue to serve the community.

“I will stand shoulder to shoulder with the unions to make sure we don’t lose the Stourport office.”

Heulyn Gwyn Davies, Royal Mail spokesman, added: “We constantly review the operational efficiency and commercial practicality of all our units. However, we currently do not have any firm plans regarding Stourport delivery office.”

How do you know when a RM spokesman is lying?................... Their Lips Move.

Talks are underway to close this office and move the staff to Kidderminster D.O.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
