Robbery at local post office

Theives have stolen a quantity of cash during a robbery at the post office in Shireoaks.

Two offenders broke into the premises, on Shireoaks Common, shortly after 6pm on Wednesday.

The post master suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

A Notts Police spokesman said the offenders escaped with a quantity of money.

The post office remained cordoned off yesterday as the Guardian went to print.

Post Office Limited spokesman Mike Norman said “We can confirm that a robbery took place at Shireoaks Post Office last evening (November 2) the people who run our Post Office branches provide important services to local communities. Any robbery or attempted robbery is not only traumatic for those involved but is also an attack on the local community. We would always urge anyone with information to contact the police.”
