Ken Livingstone urges CWU members to register to vote

Labour London Mayor candidate Ken Livingstone spoke to CWU reps from across London today (Tuesday) about the upcoming mayoral election, his key policies, and the importance of getting working and low-income people registered to vote.
At the gathering of around 50 activists, Ken revealed that he's already spoken to Ed Balls about releasing funds for a major council house building project for the capital. Housing, transport and jobs are top of Ken's list of policies to put Londoners first.
Ken explained that polling shows he picks up far more votes among younger people than his Tory rival Boris Johnson, who is more likely win votes from the over-55s. Expressing concern, however, Ken shared some worrying voting information which shows that young people and those from poorer backgrounds are least likely to be registered to vote.
"It is vital that we make sure all people in the workplace are registered to vote", Ken told activists.
CWU's London Region Secretary Jim Kirwan (pictured with Ken Livingstone) said: "We're backing Ken for London Mayor. He's got a proven track record of putting real people first and we appreciate his straight talking and the focus he puts on working people and those from low income households who so often get forgotten. London's not just made up of bankers and millionaires, there are far more of us on low wages contributing to our communities and Ken is campaigning to support people like us."
The London Mayor election has significance beyond the capital as it'll be the first major mid-term election in government terms and could give voters unhappy with the government's cuts agenda an opportunity to send a message to the Conservative Party.

Do you have polling cards for a mayoral election, and do you get paid for them?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Do you have a separate agreement covering the payment of mayoral election material or is it just covered by the National Agreement on payment for delivery of election material?

Either way I am not voting for slippery Ken, he has proven himself to be a champagne socialist with no principles, rutting at the trough like a pig on a promise.
