Bridgwater's temporary Post Office remains closed

BRIDGWATER’S new Post Office will remain temporarily closed due to technical problems, it has been confirmed.

Heulyn Gwyn Davies, a spokesman for Post Office Ltd, told the Mercury this morning: “Due to technical problems that could not have been foreseen, we must temporarily close Bridgwater Post Office.

“We do not yet have a confirmed date for reopening the branch but we will notify all our customers immediately once this has been established.

“We are working hard to resolve these issues and apologies to customers for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The service was due to open in its new temporary building in Northgate yesterday and its owner, Chris Hogg, said getting the service open was a “priority”.

An agreement was reached between Sedgemoor District Council and the Post Office on September 5 to provide the service from a portable building after its former home – Martins newsagents in Angel Place – closed for good.

If you need to use a Post Office service today, the following branches are open:

Wembdon branch, 26 Wembdon Hill, Wembdon, Bridgwater, TA6 7PX

Parkway branch, 2-5 Mountbatten House, Parkway, Bridgwater, TA6 4RA
