Diss Post Office staff don school uniforms for Barnardo’s

Post Office staff in Diss ditched their normal work clothes for the day in exchange for a completely different type of uniform – a school uniform.

Workers donned stripey ties, white shirts, little black skirts and cut off trousers on Tuesday in a bid to raise cash for children’s charity Barnardo’s.

With painted on freckles and pigtails, staff charmed customers into donating their spare change and asked them to take part in a raffle and a series of games, including guess the name of the teddy and the number of sweets in a jar.

By the start of the afternoon, the Market Place branch had already raised more than £200.

John White, manager, said the fun day was part of national push across Post Office branches to raise funds for Barnado’s which it has supported for three years.

“It’s gone really well. We’ve had some really good donations – we know we took more than £200 by the afternoon.

“People have seen the funny side of it and everyone is enjoying themselves,” he said.
