A woman has been injured by a falling branch after a lorry hit a tree in south London.

The woman was walking to work when the Royal Mail lorry struck the tree outside her office in Blackfriars Road, Southwark, at about 08:30 BST.

Emergency crews were sent to the scene and fire crews held up a blue sheet while paramedics treated her for a leg injury before taking her to hospital.

The ambulance service said the 32-year-old woman was conscious and breathing.

Unless the lorry mounted the footpath/verge and knocked over a tree then it's not the fault of the lorry but the fault of the tree owner for having a dangerous tree

- looks like the branch was overhanging the road - and its on public land so the council will be at fault I think.

Mind you it looks like a Double Decker - they do seem accident prone.

Lots of companies seem to be using trailers of a similar size to the RM double stackers so possibly their now a standard trailer size

Double deckers do seem to be involved in more accidents than the other lorries, maybe the drivers need a bit more training to get them to remember that the lorry is a bit higher. And that branch looks pretty substantial, woman was very lucky it didn't hit her on the head, her injuries could have been much much worse

Standard trailer would have passed under that , he/she has only clipped it with the top 4" of the double stacker. Council to blame unless he/she shouldn't have been on that road or in that lane due to height or weight restrictions. Looking at that branch and the distance its dropped she's one lucky lady.

Shame Rm don't talk to local conucils and vice-versa. We never seem to know about road closures/works etc. Big fire on the seafront recently, but us poor posties still had to go down to try and empty a box that was wrapped in blue police tape, only to be told NO by Police/ Fire Brigade, then moaned at by managers :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!
