Will post in Kirkintilloch become a second-class service?

CHANGES to the way mail is delivered in Kirkintilloch and surrounding villages is causing concern.

Royal Mail has made the changes in a bid to modernise the way it operates and address present day demands on the service.

Postmen and women will continue to deliver mail in the morning and for a longer period during the day.

Meanwhile, many customers will continue to get their mail by lunch-time, but the time will depend on where they live on the new delivery route, which could be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.

However, Campsie and Kirkintilloch North councillor Charles Kennedy fears the changes could result in a poorer service and he has taken the matter up with Royal Mail.

He said: “I found the letter sent out by Royal Mail about the delivery changes extremely confusing and one that really told me very little.

“And a number of constituents have also expressed their concerns to me that the letter does not go into any great detail, but seems to hint at yet another reduction in the service level that we can expect in the North Kirkintilloch, Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown areas.”

However, councillor Kennedy paid tribute to the postmen and women and said they were doing a ‘splendid job’ under very difficult circumstances.

He added: “At the moment, many customers receive their mail before lunch-time, but there are many who do not see their mail until 3pm or 4pm.

“This is no reflection on the postmen and women, but on the massive delivery areas that they are being asked to cover.”

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “As part of one of the largest transformations ever undertaken in the UK industry, we are currently revising our delivery practices in Kirkintillloch.

“Whilst we do not anticipate that this will impact on the majority of our residential customers, some customers may notice slightly different delivery times.

“These changes are necessary as we revise our delivery routes and deploy new equipment in order to respond to our changing mail bag as we now deliver more packets and parcels.

“We will be monitoring these new arrangements and welcome any feedback from customers. If customers have any enquiries on their deliveries they can call our Customer Services Team on 0845 601 1399.”

They push this bollox out all the time now, what time is lunch time in RM land?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
