Gang sought after two break-ins

A GANG of four men were surrounded by smoke after breaking into a Uttoxeter filling station in the early hours of Monday (8) causing them to flee.

The same gang that targeted the Tesco filling station in Town Meadows Way are also thought to have been behind a break-in at Leigh post office in the early hours of Sunday (7) morning.

The group smashed the front door of the post office in Parkhall Lane, Church Leigh, at around 4.30am on Sunday and got into part of the building but were unable to gain entry in to the post office itself.

Nothing was stolen in the raid and a dark coloured Subaru car was seen making off from the scene at speed.

On Monday at 2.10am a group of four males broke in through the fire door at the Tesco filling station in Uttoxeter which activated the ‘smoke cloak’ security device which appears to have put the gang off and they fled the scene.

The four men were caught by CCTV which showed they were all wearing hoods to cover their faces, although one gang member was wearing distinctive red gloves.

Again a dark coloured Subaru was seen fleeing the scene and police said a black Subaru was pursued by West Midlands Police later in the day in Kingswinford, near Dudley, after a burglary at a convenience store in the area but ultimately evaded capture.
