THREE workmates cycled 300 miles in 24 hours - non-stop - from John O’Groats to Glasgow to raise nearly £2000 for the Marie Curie Hospice.
First class Royal Mail workers Dereck Pettigrew, Henry McKelvie and Mark Gallagher - who are all based at the mail centre in Springburn - pushed themselves through the night as they wound their way down Scotland, pausing only for refreshments.
They started their cycle at midday last Thursday from John O’Groats and arrived at the mail centre just after noon on the Friday.
Dereck said: “It was raining when we left John O’Groats and we came across high winds on the way down, but thankfully it got sunny when we came near Loch Lomond.
“One of my friends acted as the support crew, and he’s a good cook so he kept us going with barbecued mackerel, potatoes and venison burgers.”
