ANGRY customers feel they are not at the heart of what the Royal Mail does after it reduced late collection times at many of the town’s postboxes by two hours.
Fraser Pithie, who until recently used the mail box in Dencer Drive for late collections, has written to the company a number of times complaining about the system change.
He said: “The postbox I regularly use for late collections is no longer cleared at the 6.45pm, but at 4.45pm along with many other boxes in the town except the one at the main Kenilworth sorting office.
“A significant amount of people across Kenilworth have used the Royal Mail service because of the late collection facility at a number of postboxes across the town. The decision to remove this facility demonstrates that the company fails to know, understand and care about its customers.
“By offering late collections, and also by re-introducing a Sunday collection that ensures an unbroken six day cycle of delivery, the company would be putting customers first.”
The Royal Mail insisted it has brought forward the collection times of a number of postboxes in the Kenilworth area to improve efficiency and quality of service to ensure all mail enters its system in time to achieve next day delivery.
A spokesman for the company said: “Notices were placed on the affected boxes at least two weeks in advance advising customers of the changes, which are within the final collection time specification agreed with our regulator Postcomm.
“Later collections are still made from a number of other boxes in the area ”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Collect it earlier and deliver it later. Is it surprising that our bread and butter asks where the 'efficiency and improvement' are in that little mix?

Re: Kenilworth - 'Royal Mail has let us down again'
lets be honest...
RM hold all the cards...
for the run of the mill average customer... posting letters, cards or gifts... they only have the option of Royal Mails services...
sure they could use DHL, HDL Parcelforce etc... but it would cost... what.. atleast 20 times what they pay for RMs service
until... assuming it ever happens... some other company ie. UK Mail starts doing postbox collections and "Final Mile" delivery... RM will cut and cut and cut...until they get down to a single daily collection, and can cut the number of staff employed on Collections, or can cut their contract hours..
Hell.. they will probably add the collection duty onto a P&L duty at the next revision...

"Collect it earlier and deliver it later" is precisely how they can significantly reduce the number of staff working overnight.boardie wrote:Collect it earlier and deliver it later. Is it surprising that our bread and butter asks where the 'efficiency and improvement' are in that little mix?
