TWELVE post offices in Gwent will receive a share of £849,658 of Welsh Assembly Government funding being given to the country’s post office network.

Local government and communities minister Carl Sargeant announced today that 87 post offices across Wales would receive grants to help expand their businesses, improve security and improve their customer service.

In Gwent, Griffithstown, Llanhilleth, Beaufort, Blackwood, Cross Hands (Newport), Ringland, Alexandra Dock, Thornbury Park (Newport), Ty Sign, Panteg, Talywain and Cardiff Road, Newport, post offices are among those who are to receive the cash.

Mr Sargeant said: “This fund has helped many local post offices across Wales develop new business services and sell goods which are not already provided in the local community.

“Grants under the Post Office Diversification Fund have helped post office across Wales become more sustainable through maintaining their current business whilst expanding into new product lines and services.”
