A postman has been suspended in Devon after undelivered mail was recovered from an address in the Torquay postcode area, Royal Mail has said.
The company said a quantity of mail was recovered and that it would be examined in an investigation before being delivered as soon as possible.
Any customer whose mail was delayed or interfered with would receive an apology, it said.
Royal Mail said it had a "zero tolerance approach to any dishonesty".
"That stance is shared by the overwhelming majority of postmen and women, who are honest and hardworking and who do all they can to protect the mail and deliver it safely.
"We will always seek to prosecute the tiny minority of people who abuse their position of trust," Royal Mail added.

Postman suspended after 'large number of items' discovered
http://www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/Postm ... story.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A postman has been suspended after a large haul of undelivered mail was found at an address in Paignton.
Royal Mail has launched an investigation after letters and parcels — which may run into thousands — were discovered last Wednesday.
It has refused to say how many items were found but has confirmed "a very large number of letters and parcels had been found inside a house".
A Royal Mail spokesman said he could not comment on claims that the hoard was so big it took several vans to take it back to the sorting office in Torquay.
Homes and businesses from across South Devon are believed to have been affected.
Royal Mail is in the process of examining the items, having them delivered and apologising to customers.
The spokesman said: "Following a Royal Mail investigation a quantity of mail has been recovered from an address in the Torquay post code area.
"A postman has been suspended. Our investigation continues."
He added: "Royal Mail has a zero tolerance approach to any dishonesty and that stance is shared by the overwhelming majority of postmen and women who are honest and hardworking and who do all they can to protect the mail and deliver it safely."
The investigation could take several weeks.

What a tw@t. Yeah, I know what people are gonna say - it's a hard job blah blah, but what a tw@t. I'd jack the job in if it got to the point where I was considering criminality. There's no excuses for these guys. Although in my case, I'd have to bike 7 miles home to start hording stuff. All these guys who nick stuff must use their own car, surely it wouldn't be workable otherwise?

Doesn't it just seem like more hassle than actually delivering the stuff?
And...wouldn't the wife, kids, family, mates notice a couple of van loads of s**t lying around.

They always put that in. It's their way of trying to create the illusion, that RM Management give a damn about the service we Posties provide. As far as I can see, the only ones who DO care about it, are those of us who actually work for a living in RM.

Think we should take them to court for fraudulently issuing counterfeit share certificates and then magically altering the value weeks before they matured?
Bit dishonest of Royal Mail wasn't it?
