A LITTLE Missenden postman who feared turning 50 was cheered up thanks to a birthday surprise from some school children.
Tony Gorman reached the half century earlier this month but it was his turn to receive a delivery when he arrived at Little Missenden C of E Infant School.
When Mr Gorman arrived to make his usual delivery on June 21 he was asked to pop inside where the children were having their school assembly.
He turned out to be the guest of honour with everyone singing Happy Birthday before the headteacher, Julianna Hall, gave him a big card that had been signed by members of the village.
Miss Hall said: "He was quite overcome - he's a great postman as he's so friendly and helpful."
Tony, who lives in Chalfont St Giles, has been a postman for 12 years and currently delivers to Little Missenden and Hyde Heath.
He said: "I like working in this area because of the community feel and I enjoy helping."
