Halstead's postal depot premises are to go on the market this week.

As the premises are set to be sold off, a campaign to create a depot at an alternative site in Halstead is gathering pace.

Posties are hoping to collect as many as 10,000 signatures in support of their campaign.

They have distributed 200 petitions across shops, which are filling up quickly with signatures.

In April, Royal Mail confirmed it was consulting about transferring Halstead delivery operations to Sudbury early next year
