CHANGES are to be made to the postal delivery service in Goole in response to an increase in bulky items being sent through Royal Mail.


But, the company says, it will not mean fewer postal jobs or fewer deliveries.

From June 13, a Royal Mail spokeswoman said, postmen and women would be using revised delivery routes which would be phased in over a period of a few months.

She said the company needed to modernise the way it worked in order to maintain services and keep prices competitive.

“The changes are necessary because of the amount of bulky and heavy items that are sent through the post.

“We need to introduce new equipment like trolleys so the delivery men and women can use different shaaped and sized routes.”

She said there would be no cut in services but the times of delivery may change for some areas - but not for others.

“Royal Mail will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day.

“Many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime,” said the spokeswoman.

“The time customers receive mail will depend on where they live on the new delivery route.

“This may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.”
