Crash on city commuter route causes delays

A royal mail van has collided with a car on a busy commuter route in Cambridge creating long delays for motorists.

The crash took place in Newmarket Road, close to the junction with Marshalls Van Centre between the Ditton Lane junction and the Barnwell Road shortly after 7am.

There were no injuries but one vehicle was left it the carriageway leaving the road partially blocked. Police officers remained at the scene at 8am to await recovery.
Traffic was backed up for some distance in each direction during rush hour as a result.
