Postie's in the pink for marathon debut

A POSTMAN will be swapping his post route on the streets of Yeovil for the streets of Edinburgh hoping to deliver hundreds of pounds to a breast cancer charity.

Nick Burton, 40, from Melrose Road, Yeovil, will take on the challenge of his first-ever full marathon on May 22.

He will be running in a pink headband, pink vest and pink shorts in aid of Coppafeel, a charity set up by his sister's friend, which aims to raise awareness in young women at checking for breast cancer.

He said: "A friend of my sister's got breast cancer aged 23 and she set up a charity to raise awareness of it, especially in young women.


"Kristin decided it was time to flip the switch on breast cancer awareness and bring it to the forefront of young people's attention as they are the ones too often dismissed by breast cancer campaigning."

The father of two, Poppy, 7, and Ruby, 4, said he had taken part in five half marathons before, but never had the opportunity to take part in a full race.

He is married to wife Shelley and says his family have all been very supportive.

The massive Yeovil Town supporter added: "Manager Terry Skiverton has asked the players to help out, which is really nice of them to do it."
