Royal Mail says its Dundee East delivery office is getting back to normal after a weekend effort to finally clear the mail backlog.
The firm had promised a "blitz" to finally address long-standing problems. During the week, extra staff were called in to boost deliveries and clear the backlog of letters and Christmas cards in the DD4 and DD5 postcode areas, with the focus switching to parcels over the weekend.
Royal Mail said residents should by now have received their belated Christmas presents.
Regarding the general position at the depot, a spokeswoman said at the weekend, "Dundee East delivery office is now almost back on track.
"We have delivered a large number of packets today. We have been and still are completely focused on providing our customers with the service they expect and deserve."
Royal Mail brought in extra staff specifically to deliver packages so that the beleaguered West Pitkerro depot can start this week with the decks cleared.
One Broughty Ferry resident told us, "We had three deliveries in 90 minutes this morning. And all were by different posties."

The 'blitz' seems to have included putting mail through the right numbered door, but in the wrong street, as happened to me (again) at the weekend - and my garden wall actually has the street name on it! Is this the third - or fourth - weekend we've been told the backlog will be cleared?

sorry, we wtill have 3 parcels outstanding but I suppose we should be grateful, one which was posted on the 29th of December turned up on Friday.

Royal Mail are still delivering packets and parcels on the 24th january,,, from before christmas...... thats BAD,,, looks like the reciever of these rediculiously late packets will be sending then back,, christmas has gone a month ago,, but they could be used as presents for christmas 2011,,, they then would be 10 months early..... management you have got it so wrong, trying to cost cost cost cut cut cut cut and cut..... and it's bit them on the bottom,,,,,,,,, big time...
