POSTMAN Michael Holder made a very special early morning delivery on Friday.
For he brought his first child, Caiden, into the world when wife Kirsty (26) went into labour at their home in Woodmill Street, Dunfermline.
Delighted new dad Michael (31), who has been a postie for 11 years, said, “At about 4.15am Kirsty was screaming in agony.
“She said, ‘I can feel his head coming out’ and I thought, ‘you’ve got to be kiddin’ me!’”
“Half his body came out and I just caught him. My head was all over the place.”
Baby Caiden arrived at 4.45am weighing a healthy 8lbs 3ozs.
Paramedics arrived shortly after to whisk mother and baby to hospital where doctors gave them the all-clear.
The couple had gone to Forth Park Maternity Hospital in Kirkcaldy earlier on Thursday evening after Kirsty felt what she believed were contractions.
But after blood and urine tests doctors sent her home.
Kirsty, an adult autism practitioner, said, “We knew we had to get to hospital again because in the morning I could feel the head coming.
"But I couldn’t get downstairs at all to get to the car. Then our mobile phones and landline didn’t seem to be working.
“Michael ran next door to our neighbours Lesley and Jim (Stewart) and they phoned for an ambulance.
"I didn’t know I was in labour and looking back it could’ve been so much worse.
"I think it was more traumatic for Michael than it was for me.”
Neighbour Mr Stewart congratulated the couple on their new arrival and said, “They did it all themselves.”

Delivering the baby is easy.
If he cut the cord and delivered the placenta I would be impressed.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
