Brighton shoppers still waiting for Christmas presents

Shoppers are still waiting to pick up their Christmas presents because of huge queues at post offices.

Customers waiting to collect parcels have seen snaking queues outside the North Road sorting office in Brighton.

The line of people stretching as far as Queen’s Road became a regular sight in the week leading up to Christmas.

However customers have complained that the endless wait still is not over.

Royal Mail has now decided to call in extra staff to deal with the issue.

Peter Wilkinson, of Brighton, said: “I have spent hours waiting at the post office in North Road to get parcels.

“I can’t understand why they still have such a long queue. If they had some staff on it would go much faster.

“I feel sorry for the staff who are there because they are getting a mouthful from every customer.

“The queue is long now every day due to the backlog of Amazon parcels.”

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “There is no backlog of parcels - the only issue is the queuing.

“We are taking more staff on. We are aware there has been a problem with queuing and are trying to deal with it as quickly as possible.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
