A POSTMAN crashed his van into a company’s £10,000 security bollards and drove off, it has been claimed.
James Mercer, managing director at marketing agency Focus Integrated, feared the worst when he arrived at work after the Christmas break to find two security bollards uprooted from the ground.
Nothing had been stolen, but security cameras showed a Royal Mail van had caused the damage on December 29, at 4.10pm.
Mr Mercer said: “We’ve been burgled twice in the past six months.
“Because of that, we had CCTV cameras fitted and a chain put across to indicate the building was being monitored by CCTV.
“We had two bollards put in. I came in this morning to find both bollards laying across the middle of our drive.
“I went through our CCTV camera to find a post office van arrive for collection.
“It went straight through the barrier so fast that it lifted the two bollards out of the ground.”
Mr Mercer’s anger at not being informed about the damage turned to exasperation when he contacted Royal Mail to get repairs carried out.
He claims he was told to carry out the repairs himself and submit a claim, and was blocked in attempts to contact a local manager to discuss the situation.
He said: “I was told I had to fill in a claims form. I said I understand that, but the security of my building was at risk.”
Computer equipment and a high quality camera worth between £15,000 and £20,000 were previously stolen in two raids on the company, at Inworth Road, Feering, near Kelvedon.
No one from Royal Mail was available for comment.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
