A Castle Donington resident has sent in a Reader Letter to complain about Royal Mail postal issues in the village.
Dear Editor
I'm writing to you about an apparent problem that we appear to be having in Castle Donington with our Royal Mail post.
We personally have been having terrible issues with our post this year. Other than the odd item going missing it really started in May when my youngest's Christening cards with money and gift cards in never arrived. This was reported. Then in August my eldest son didn't receive three cards again which had money in. My birthday in August saw more cards not arriving. In November same again with my youngest son. Since mid November we are simply not getting hardly any of our post.
I run a business from home and have not received customer orders, some even were sent recorded delivery. I haven't received packages from suppliers which has meant I haven't met orders in time for Christmas, meaning cancelled orders and income lost. I have also had to report several items missing that have been sent out from the village. I now drive to Breedon or Shardlow to post my items.
I have reported these to Royal Mail direct, the Post Master at Derby and our Post Office. I haven't even had a response and am about to take it further.
Throughout all this time, however, we have been regularly receiving a different properties mail on a different road and a different postcode. This month I've had over 30 items of theirs alone. I am currently trying to contact them to see if they are getting my elusive mail and choosing not to forward on.
The reason I am writing is because in our frustration we spoke to friends in the village about it, and low and behold, the same thing has been happening to them. Friends on Glover Road are regularly getting mail from their same house number on Station Road; High Street are regularly getting from their number counterpart on Park Lane and vice versa. Everyone reported that this has been happening since around June.
I visited the address at Park Lane today, only to be told they aren't getting mine but they are regularly getting someone's on Park Avenue.
Incidentally I am told by our Post office that June was when the Derby sorting office changed the way that Donington mail was delivered. I also understand that there have been many complaints and claims that have been relayed to the Post Office recently (before the snow delays). Several of our friends have complained to Royal Mail as we have and have not had responses either.
If there are others in Castle Donington with the same problem we could unite in demanding that something is done collectively rather than being fobbed off individually.
I've started a group on Facebook to also try to co-ordinate people's issues so we can present Royal Mail with a campaign to urge them to do something. Group name 'Royal Mail failing Castle Donington'.
Kind regards
Kate Tolson

Another person who gets a few items miss delivered or lost and then its everything for their street or village thats going missing.
She must be getting mail sent to her from the same people who can't address mail correctly into our office they should realise Royal Mail deliver mail the last mile not guess the last mile.
