A PORTSTEWART postman has been hailed as a great detective after managing to deliver a Christmas card with no name and hardly any address!

Robert and Amanda Martin, who used to live in Portstewart, contacted the Times to tell us of their admiration for postman Nigel Dent who managed to deliver a Christmas card to their new home in Ballymoney with only the following address to go by:

Mr and Mrs, ## Sunset Ridge, Portstewart, BT55 7EH.

Robert and Amanda told the Times: "Thanks to the deductive reasoning...or rather totally awesome insight... of Nigel Dent of Royal
Mail in Portstewart, we received a Christmas card addressed to Mr & Mrs, ## Sunset Ridge, Portstewart BT55 7EH.

"How he fgured out that it was intended for us is amazing. We used to live at Sunset Park and only got married after we left Portstewart.

"But Nigel was right! The card was sent to us by a long lost friend. Thanks to Nigel's ingenuity we are now back in touch. He is without doubt the 'Postie with the Mosty'.

"Merry Christmas Nigel and thank you mate."

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We are delighted that Nigel was able to use his detective skills in getting this item of mail delivered safely to the right person. Our staff always go the extra mile to try and deliver our customers' mail."

Meanwhile the DOM is currently drawing up the paperwork for a Conduct Code case on Security of Mail as he believes that Nigel failed to deliver as addressed without good cause. - Tongue in cheek but you could see it happening couldn't you.
