Confusion over posties' dangerous dog worries

IT is unclear when postal deliveries will be resumed to a Canvey street following posties’ fears of a dangerous dog.

The Royal Mail has said they will resume services to Woodville Road once they have consulted with the police over the animal.

However, the police have said they have not been contacted by the postal service.

The Royal Mail suspended deliveries a fortnight ago, following allegations a postman was bitten by a resident’s rottweiler in October, although the dog’s owner denies the claim.

Nick Martin, a spokesman for the Royal Mail, said: “We have temporarily suspended mail deliveries to a few addresses in Woodville Road due to a large dangerous dog loose in the road.

“The police are involved and resumption of deliveries will take place on their advice.

“Mail for these addresses is being held at the delivery office and can be collected.

“We apologise to any of our customers who have been affected.”

However, Essex Police spokesman Alan Jones said the force has heard nothing from the postal service.

He said: “We have no knowledge of a direct approach from the Post Office regarding the situation.

“We will contact them to set something up. Meanwhile we will be continuing to look into the event at Woodville Road.”

Residents from the street are currently having to collect their mail from the nearest post office, in Furtherwick Road, Canvey.

Jean Ellis, 69, who lives in the road, said: ”I hope we will be getting our post in time for Christmas.

“It’s incredibly frustrating having to go all the way to the town centre to get your post.”

It's a lot more frustrating sitting in A&E for 3 or 4 hours waiting for treatment for a dog bite....but maybe not, unless you're the one that's been bit

i totally agree its a right inconvience getting bit by a dog as the injury needs cleaning up professionally and check out when you last had a tetanus its not just put a plaster on and your ok

Not just hassle with bites, how about torn muscles/ligaments etc from avoiding/running away from the dog or dogs?

2yrs later, still suffering, and DSS/DWP have deemed it as an "Industrial Accident" hence 14% Disability decision taken recently.
Lost so much money from no O/T and stuck indoors mostly. OK, nice when it's raining/snowing, but Cabin Fever setting in !!!

I've got dogs, got no problem with well behaved/trained dogs, but most owners are totally irresponsible and ignorant of their responsibilities with regards to their pets.

Can we put electric shock collars...on the owners?

Postal company Royal Mail for a month refused to deliver mail to residents of a street in the city outline due to the fact that one of the employees on the street once bitten by a dog.
Living in the streets of Woodville Road outraged by the decision of the company and even suggests that in fact the dog does not bite the postman, but just ran over his bike.
Some of the inhabitants of the streets already thinking about what to apply for postal companies to court, since suffering a serious inconvenience. For example, one man did not wait for their pre-paid tickets to a football game.

Жители улицы Woodville Road возмущены решением компании и даже говорят о том, что на самом деле собака не кусала почтальона, а всего лишь бегала за его велосипедом.
