Postie 'mole' warns about later deliveries

Homes throughout south Shropshire will have their post delivered up to 90 minutes later in the New Year, according to the Journal’s ‘mole’ in the Post Office.

Our ‘postie’, who does not wish his/her name to be disclosed, says that postal delivery staff throughout Shropshire will start work later from January.

“We’ve been told that early in the New Year, instead of starting work at 6am as now, we won’t be starting work until 7.30am.

“This is because of changes to the shifts at the mail centre in Shrewsbury. Mail won’t start to ship from Shrewsbury until around 6am.”

“Start-times all over the SY area will be put back. This means that some people and businesses in outlying areas, places such as Anchor or Middlehope, may not get their mail until around 4pm on some days. Addresses on the Wales/Shropshire border will be even later.”

Jaquie Stenson, external relations manager, Central and West Royal Mail Group Ltd would not confirm the later deliveries.

“As part of Royal Mail’s £2 billion investment in modernising its operations, changes are being made at delivery offices across the country to make them more efficient.

When any such major change is implemented, some disruption is possible until the changes bed in,” said Ms Stenson.

That's a rather conservative estimate if the revisions already in place are anything to go by.

so you can do it 90 minutes less than now

What mail ? according to the government there is hardly if any mail to deliver anymore??????? So why is it such a issue if people get nothing 90 minutes later

So if the mail is getting later and later, let us prep our frames tomorrow morning then go home, come in next day and deliver already prepped mail at six in the morning (like before) then return and sort the later mail with our remaining time for tomorrows new customer friendly early delivery TM.

If you wait long enough deliveries will get so much later and later in the day that (as someone else said in another post) you will be delivering overnight....so wait a bit longer and it should eventually get back to going out at 06.30 in the morning
