Sainsbury’s and the Royal Mail Group have revealed plans for their new developments in South London.
Royal Mail Group has revealed outline plans for a 2,000 unit residential development on their 13-acre site on Nine Elms Lane. The scheme would include space for new shops, community facilities as well as postal services. Consultation on the plans will remain open until the end of November.
Sainsbury’s has also unveiled early designs for the redevelopment of their existing supermarket on Wandsworth Road.
The plans include a reconfigured 80,000 sq ft supermarket with a 750-800 unit residential development above and an underground car park. The plans also comprise a new hotel and could bring the site’s railway arches into public use as new shops.
Sainsbury’s expects to submit a full planning application for the site to Lambeth Council early next year.
The plans come after Wandsworth Council approved plans for the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station earlier this month.
