Gang steals loaded Parcelforce vans from Swansea Enterprise Park

THIEVES smashed into a city depot and stole three Parcelforce vans loaded up with goods and packages.

The burglary happened in the early hours of yesterday at Swansea Enterprise Park.

It is believed the culprits broke through a wall at the depot to get at the vans inside.

Police have made an appeal for witnesses, while Parcelforce Worldwide has urged anyone who is worried about deliveries to get in touch.

Two of the vans were branded in red company colours. The third was white and unmarked.

Late yesterday afternoon police confirmed all three had been recovered. One was found near the depot, at Castell Close, while the other two were discovered burnt out on Kilvey Hill.

It is unclear how much was stolen from the vans.

Parcelforce Worldwide is owned by parent company, Royal Mail Group.

A Parcelforce Worldwide spokesman said: "We can confirm that a burglary took place at the Parcelforce Worldwide depot at Castell Close, Enterprise Park, Swansea, in the early hours of Monday morning.

"Three vans were stolen in the break-in, together with items for delivery to residents and businesses in Swansea and West Wales."

Acting Detective Inspector Justin Evans, of Morriston CID, said police were investigating.

"I am appealing to anyone with information to contact police," he added.

A member of staff at bike shop Tredz, of Castell Close, said officers were checking for CCTV footage from the area yesterday morning.

He said he heard that the culprits had smashed through a wall at the depot.

He sympathised with anyone whose packages may be missing.

"It could be Christmas presents, or money — fingers crossed it's nothing," he said. "It's the wrong time of year for this."

Llansamlet councillor Penny Matthews said the robbery was unbelievable.

"It is a terrible time of year for this to happen — but it's not nice at any time," she said.

Parcelforce customers can phone 0844 8004466.

To help police, phone 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

location wise, the m.o is well away out of the way from residential areas. put it this way, i wouldn't fancy walking from that area to swansea.
enterprise park kind of thing. not sure why they asked tredz the bike store for cctv, lloyds bank further down would have been a bit closer. anyone could have parked outside and watched the place tbh. or parked a bit further up and walked outside would have needed binoculars or summat.

funny how rm don't have cctv..just a thought like
and here comes avi cohen! oh i say! at the same end, he's got one back!!
